Welcome

This blog is for all the teachers and students at Espoon yhteislyseo Upper Secondary School interested in social media and learning English. For those students who are taking our English courses, Espoo ❤ English is key to keeping up in class and getting all the material necessary to complete each course.

Courses will be evaluated according to tests based on course material (grammar and vocabulary), listening comprehensions, oral skills, and class activity. Students will also be participating in blog and other media projects based on course themes. For more specific details about the requirements of each course, please refer to the course page on the right hand side.

Learning by doing!

Media, communication and information technology are emphasized during each course. These are required skills in everyday life and work in the future. Hopefully we can bring the real world into the classroom and encourage students to better seek and use information available on the Internet. Using social media allows students to express themselves creatively and make a difference by leaving a digital footprint. If you are looking for study material, instructions, schedules or links, click a page on the right sidebar and you’re on your way. Good luck!

Best regards, Anna Puhakka and Marjo Inkala / English Teachers

A journey is a person in itself; no two are alike. And all plans, safeguards, policing, and coercion are fruitless. We find after years of struggle that we do not take a trip; a trip takes us.

~ John Steinbeck

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime. ~ Mark Twain

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. ~ Nelson Mandela

There is no better friend than a book. ~ Ernest Hemingway
